How things began:
Andreas Dangl first came into contact with wind energy plants in 1991 during a trip to Cuxhafen in northern Germany. The result was that the young businessman from the “Waldviertel” area of Austria became highly enthusiastic about the idea of converting wind power into electricity.
He gathered together a number of people with similar ideas and within the Austria Wind Power lobby group helped to draw up a practical, political and legal framework for the realization of wind power projects.
Not least as a result of his efforts, Austria’s first wind power plant, which is located in the alpine foothills of Lower Austria, went on stream in 1995. This plant employed a citizens’ cooperative as a business model and provided the foundations for WEB Windenergie AG, which was launched in 1999.
